Every Hollow Block Size We Stock
All four blocks share the same shape: a rectangular cement block with a hollow core inside. The numbers in the name give you the length, height, and thickness, in that order.
- 400 x 200 x 200mm – our standard block, and the thickest one we sell. This is what most people mean when they type "hollow block size".
- 400 x 200 x 150mm – same length and height, just a bit slimmer. A solid middle option when you don't need the full 200mm.
- 400 x 200 x 100mm – half the thickness of our standard block. A common pick for partition walls.
- 400 x 150 x 100mm – our shortest, lightest block. Useful for finishing a wall at a lower height or for small partition jobs.
Every size goes through the same casting and curing process, so a slimmer block isn't a lower-quality block. You're only trading thickness, not strength per unit of material.
What Changes When the Thickness Changes?
Thickness affects two things: how strong your wall feels and how much you spend.
A 200mm block gives you a heavier, sturdier wall. It stands up well to wind and outdoor pressure, so we point most people toward it for boundary walls and compound walls. A 100mm block weighs less and costs less per piece, but it's meant for walls that don't carry any load, like a partition splitting up a room inside a building.
The 150mm size sits in the middle. Builders often use it for boundary walls on a tighter budget, or for internal walls that need a little more strength than a plain partition.
How to Pick the Right Size
Use this as a quick guide:
- Building a boundary wall or compound wall? Go with 400x200x200mm.
- Building a boundary wall but keeping an eye on cost? 400x200x150mm saves money without giving up much strength.
- Building an internal partition with no load on it? 400x200x100mm gets the job done for less.
- Need to close out a wall at a shorter height, or want the lightest block? Ask for 400x150x100mm.
