Bigger Unit — Faster Wall

Hollow Blocks — Fewer Pieces, Faster Boundary Walls

Cement hollow blocks that cover more wall area per unit than a brick, so you need fewer pieces, less mortar and less time to close a boundary or compound wall. Solid where it counts, hollow in the middle to keep weight and cost down. Starting at ₹38/piece.

Hollow Blocks — Sizes & Pricing

Cast cement blocks with a hollow core — built to cover wall area fast with fewer joints and less material.

Standard Cement Hollow Blocks

Our standard hollow block is cast in cement and cured before dispatch, with a hollow centre that keeps the unit light enough to handle by hand while covering far more wall area than a single brick. One block does the work of six bricks, so a boundary wall goes up in a fraction of the time.

  • Size: 400×200×200mm (standard) — other sizes on request
  • Core: Hollow centre, 2 or 3 cavities depending on size
  • Weight: Roughly 40% lighter than a solid concrete block of the same size
  • Compressive Strength: ≥40 kg/cm² (suitable for boundary and partition walls)
  • Water Absorption: Under 10%
  • Best For: Boundary walls, compound walls, partition walls, godown and warehouse walls

What Are Hollow Blocks?

Hollow blocks are cast cement blocks with a hollow core, much bigger than a standard clay brick. Where a brick measures around 230×114×76mm, a standard hollow block from Bricks Street measures 400×200×200mm — so one block covers the same wall area as roughly six bricks. Fewer units means fewer joints, less mortar, and a wall that goes up noticeably faster.

The hollow centre is what keeps the block light enough to lift and place by hand despite its size. It also gives you a channel to run vertical reinforcement bars and pour concrete inside the wall when the design calls for it — something a solid block or a single brick can't offer. That's one reason hollow blocks are so common in boundary and compound wall construction across India.

When should you use hollow blocks instead of bricks?
Use hollow blocks for boundary walls, compound walls and godown or warehouse walls where speed and cost per square foot matter more than a fine exposed finish. For decorative exposed brick facades or precise load-bearing masonry, our wire-cut or modular bricks are the better fit.

Important note on structural use: hollow blocks are made for boundary walls and partition walls, not for heavy load-bearing structures. Their compressive strength (≥40 kg/cm²) is lower than our solid or 3-hole bricks (≥105 kg/cm²). For load-bearing walls in a house or building, use our solid or 3-hole wire cut bricks instead.

Key Features of Our Hollow Blocks

🧱

Covers 6x the Area of a Brick

One standard hollow block replaces roughly six bricks in wall area. Fewer units to lift, place and joint means a boundary wall that closes in days, not weeks.

💰

Lower Mortar Consumption

Fewer joints per square foot of wall means far less cement mortar used compared to brickwork of the same height — a real saving on material cost for long boundary walls.

Faster to Build

Masons lay far fewer units per square foot compared to brick, which cuts labour time on long compound wall runs significantly.

📐

Consistent Casting

Cast to uniform dimensions in a controlled process, so blocks stack cleanly with even joints and a straight wall line without extra dressing.

💧

Low Water Absorption

Water absorption under 10% keeps the block from soaking up moisture during monsoon, which helps prevent efflorescence and long-term surface damage.

🔩

Reinforcement-Ready

The hollow core gives you a clean channel to run vertical steel bars and pour concrete where the design needs extra strength — something a solid unit can't offer.

🌡️

Decent Thermal Insulation

The trapped air inside the hollow core gives a reasonable thermal barrier, keeping boundary-wall-adjacent rooms a touch cooler than a fully solid wall would.

🚛

Fewer Truckloads

Because one block does the work of several bricks, you need fewer units delivered to site for the same wall — less material handling and fewer delivery trips overall.

Where Hollow Blocks Work Best

Hollow blocks do their best work in a few specific jobs — here's where they save you the most time and money.

🚧

Boundary & Compound Walls

This is the classic hollow block job. Long straight runs of wall go up fast with fewer units, less mortar and lower total cost per running foot.

🏭

Warehouses & Godowns

Large industrial sheds and storage godowns need a lot of wall area fast. Hollow blocks cut both material cost and construction time on these big, plain wall runs.

🚪

Internal Partition Walls

Used for non-load-bearing internal walls in commercial and industrial buildings where a fast, economical wall matters more than a fine finish.

🏡

Farmhouse & Plot Boundaries

A common, budget-friendly choice for marking and securing farmhouse plots and open land boundaries across Rajasthan and neighbouring states.

🏗️

Retaining & Site Boundary Walls

The hollow core allows reinforcement bars to run through the wall, giving retaining and site boundary walls added strength where the ground pushes back.

🏢

Commercial Plot Enclosures

Builders use hollow blocks to quickly enclose a commercial plot before the main construction begins, keeping the site secure without a big upfront material bill.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about hollow blocks — strength, applications, pricing and delivery.

What is the price of hollow blocks in India?

+

Hollow blocks at Bricks Street start at ₹38/piece:

  • Standard 400×200×200mm block: ₹38/piece
  • Heavy-duty grade: ₹45/piece
  • Bulk Project Supply: ₹38/piece with phased delivery

Can hollow blocks be used for load-bearing walls?

+

Hollow blocks have limited load-bearing capacity (≥40 kg/cm²) — they're built for boundary walls, compound walls and non-load-bearing partition walls rather than the main structure of a building. For load-bearing walls, use our solid or 3-hole wire cut bricks which achieve ≥105 kg/cm². Hollow blocks are ideally used for:

  • Boundary and compound walls (any length)
  • Warehouse and godown perimeter walls
  • Non-load-bearing internal partition walls

How many hollow blocks are needed per square foot of wall?

+

For a standard 400×200×200mm hollow block with 10mm mortar joints:

  • 200mm thick wall: approximately 1.4 blocks per sq.ft
  • Compare to bricks: the same wall area needs 8–9 standard bricks per sq.ft

Add 5% for wastage and breakage during handling. Use our WhatsApp quote service for a precise quantity estimate for your wall dimensions.

Do hollow blocks need plastering?

+

Most boundary and compound walls built with hollow blocks are plastered on the visible face for a clean finish and better weather protection, though some sites leave the inner face unplastered to save cost. Unlike our wire-cut or pressed bricks, hollow blocks aren't designed for an exposed decorative finish.

Do you deliver hollow blocks across India?

+

Yes — pan-India delivery from Bricks Street. We deliver to Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad and 500+ cities. Transit time: 3–7 days depending on location. Freight charges based on distance and order quantity — included transparently in your quote.
