Terracotta Tile Size: Wall Cladding, Roof and Floor Sizes Explained
Terracotta wall cladding tile size at Bricks Street runs 220-230mm long, 65-80mm high, 15-28mm thick. Plus why roof and floor terracotta tiles are different products.
"Terracotta tiles size" means different things depending on what you're building. A terracotta roof tile is not the same product as a terracotta floor tile, and neither is the same as the terracotta wall cladding tile we make at Bricks Street. Let's sort out which one you actually need, then get into exact sizes.
Important: Terracotta Is a Color, Not a Different Product
Here's the part most guides skip. At Bricks Street, "terracotta tile" and "brick cladding tile" are the same physical product. Terracotta just means the natural red-orange clay color. Every red finish in our brick cladding range, like Classic Terracotta Brick Tile or Red Fine Texture Brick, is a terracotta tile. If you want the full size chart across all nine finishes, we've laid it out in our brick cladding tile size guide.
Terracotta Wall Tile Size (What Bricks Street Makes)
Our terracotta wall cladding tiles run 220 to 230mm in length, 65 to 80mm in height, and 15 to 28mm thick, depending on finish. The two most popular terracotta finishes are:
- Classic Terracotta Brick Tile: 230x75x15mm, smooth face, for a clean classic wall
- Red Fine Texture Brick: 220x65x28mm, fine textured face, for a warmer contemporary wall
These are thin veneer tiles, fixed to an existing wall with adhesive. They aren't load-bearing, so don't confuse them with a full wire cut brick, which is a completely different size and job. See our wire cut brick size guide for that.
Terracotta Roof Tile Size
A terracotta roof tile is a separate, curved or interlocking product made to shed rainwater off a sloped roof, usually 300mm to 420mm long. Bricks Street doesn't manufacture roof tiles. We focus on wall cladding and structural bricks. If you landed here searching for roof tiles, you're looking for a roofing tile supplier, not a wall cladding one.
Terracotta Floor Tile Size
Terracotta floor tiles are flat, unglazed clay tiles laid on the ground, commonly 200x200mm, 300x300mm or larger squares. Like roof tiles, this is a different product line from ours. Our terracotta tiles are made for walls, not floors, so if you need flooring, look for a floor tile specialist instead.
Why the Confusion Happens
All three products, wall cladding, roof tiles and floor tiles, come from the same base material: fired clay. That's why they all get called "terracotta." But the shape, thickness and size are built for completely different jobs. A tile made to sit flat under foot traffic can't also curve over a roof ridge or hang on a vertical wall. Always check which surface you're covering before you order.
